Barbecue Ribs that are fall-off-the-bone tender and delicious are a breeze to make in the crock pot.  The ingredients are minimal and the process is easy.  I have NEVER, yep, NEVER made ribs before until I made this recipe.  I had been hesitant because I was sure it would be hard and that the ribs would be blah but I was wrong {thankfully!}.

Barbecue Sauce

2 cups of Dr. Pepper

3/4 cup ketchup

3 tablespoons Honey or 4 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon fresh garlic, minced

1 teaspoon hot sauce

Crock Pot Ribs

1 rack of baby back ribs {approximately 3 pounds}

1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

    For the Sauce
  1. Whisk all ingredients together in a bowl. Serve at room temperature or make ahead and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  2. For the Ribs
  3. Use a knife to slice into the membrane~the white part on the underside/bone side of the ribs.
  4. Remove the membrane. This is pretty easy ~ just pull and try to get it all in one swoop. You can use a moistened paper towel to help with grip.
  5. Place ribs into crock pot cutting apart if necessary so they fit. If you are layering pour Dr. Pepper Barbecue sauce over each layer and brush to cover all the meaty portions of your ribs.
  6. Cook at HIGH setting for 4 hours or LOW setting for 8 hours adding more barbecue sauce for the last one hour of cooking.

With this recipe even if your picnic gets rained out you can still serve up delicious ribs and enjoy time with your family or guests.  Either way it’s a great recipe that’s easy to make ~ other than cutting and pulling off that membrane…that part was icky!
