Garden Tour August 2013 ~ The Frontlines

It’s hard to believe it’s already mid-August.  Where has the summer gone?  I haven’t shown you my flowers in a bit {my last update was in May} and wanted to give you a peek at what’s blooming right now.

A lot has changed in the front of the house.  My oldest son tore apart the porch and I redid it {hopefully, I’ll have those pictures soon} and the maple tree that had been the centerpiece of the yard is now gone *sigh*, but the flowers remain.   They have overtaken the flowerbeds and I thinned out a lot this year but they just seem to keep filling in ~ a bit of a never ending battle!

There are  Coneflowers everywhere and the butterflies love them {so do I!}.

Black-Eyed Susans were one of my Daddy’s favorites and the reason I planted these beauties in the first place.

This is the view from the side of the front yard looking toward the driveway

Here are some pinkish purplish flowers whose poor little name I don’t remember

This hydrangea is hardly a showstopper but to me it is beautiful ~ I planted it years ago {I can’t even remember when} and this if the very first time it bloomed for me!

My Rose of Sharon Bush and Hibiscus look exactly alike but for one thing ~ the hibiscus blooms are larger….same exact colors though….I really should have rethought this when planting them.

These mums were a gift for Mother’s Day years ago from my niece and nephew ~ they now have babes of their own and the once little mum is now huge.

I found the prettiest copper planter with a vintage looking garden spout this year at a local county fair and filled it with some annuals and lavender.

If you’d like to relax a bit I would love for you to watch my Garden Tour Video complete with Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata ~ it’s my cure for insomnia zzzzzzzzz

In the next few days I’ll be posting a Garden Tour of the back yard ~ not quite so much to see but my little slice of heaven.  Thanks so very much for stopping by and letting me share my garden with you.

Hi Mary Beth, your flowers are just beautiful! I keep intending to plant some purple coneflower, but I just haven't gotten around to doing it. But after seeing yours, I've been inspired to put some in my flower bed. Black eyed Susans were my father's favorite flowers, and he gave me my first name Susan because he said my eyes looked just like the centers of black eyed Susans when I was a baby!
