This is our last Project Inspire{d} of the year.  I can hardly believe it.  Have a safe, fun and awesome New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.  I can’t wait to see you next year.

Christmas Fireplace

We had a very nice Christmas – excuse the somewhat “messy” picture but I wanted to share it with you.  I have always wanted a fireplace……since the day I bought the house I live in now, I’ve always dreamed of one.  While I’m still waiting for a real one, I built this faux one (I’ll have the full tutorial for you in January – I built it for under $100-much, much less – salvaging most of the frame and base including nails from another piece of furniture) but the reason I’m showing you the picture is because of the darling mini fireplace in the center.  Just when you think no one is paying attention it turns out they are.  😉 My oldest son spent a few days shopping for his Christmas present for me.  I didn’t have any idea what he was going to get….he didn’t give me any clues, but as it turns out, this was the gift.  He said he wanted me to have something as close to a real fireplace as I could have for now and so he bought me this mini fireplace – it doubles as a space heater and the joy of knowing that he would think of a gift like this and what it would mean to me…well, it made the day even more special.  p.s. He wanted to buy me a real faux fireplace but our house is older and the electrical circuits (I think that’s what it would be called???) would need to be upped to handle one so for now he thought small was the way to go.
