Puree the berries along with the sugar (optional) in a blender or Ninja bullet. Set aside.
For the French Toast
Whish together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.
Thoroughly soak bread in the egg mixture.
Heat butter in skillet until melted. A cast iron skillet is my preferred skillet for frying.
Add soaked bread to the skillet. Flip with a spatula once it is golden brown and cook on the other side until browned and cooked through.
Serve with the strawberry syrup and sprinkle with powdered sugar using a dusting wand if desired. Garnish with fresh strawberries.
