Equipment

  • Hot Glue Gun

Supplies

  • 1 Pair of Socks or a sock you may already have on hand
  • 1 Styrofoam Cone
  • 1 Mop
  • Wooden ball

Instructions

  • Unwrap the mop and styrofoam cone.
  • Cut strands from the mop. This is what you will be using for the beard. You won't need to cut all of the strands off of the mop head unless you plan on making a few of these, which would be a great idea. I think these would be so cute for gifts or to place around your home. Cut about one-third of the strands to start; you can always cut more if needed.
  • Add hot glue in sections a little above the halfway point of the cone. This is when looking at the cone up and down.
  • Glue the mop strands all the way around the cone.
  • When done glueing the strands in place cut them evenly at the bottom so that they are a little longer than the bottom of the cone.
  • Unravel each strand of the mop. This is what gives the beard the curly look and fluffs it out quite a bit.
  • Take one sock and push the toe part up and into itself so that the sock now looks like a tossel cap.
  • Place the sock onto the top of the cone (the gnome's head). Leave a little at the end.
  • Add twine and a bell if desired.
  • Lastly, glue the wooden ball (gnome nose) in place and you're done.
