Burlap and Vintage Linen Tablecloth

I love anything versatile....if I can use something for more than one purpose it makes my day and that's what I love about burlap.  I usually have a burlap table runner on my dining room table no matter the time of year.  It's the perfect backdrop for any setting and can easily be washed and reused.

I also love vintage linens and laces and I have a drawer filled with them.  The only problem with that is that I don't want to 'commit' to using them for just one purpose so that's what I love about this Burlap and Vintage Linen Tablecloth.

First, I washed and prepped my burlap and then cut it to size {I'll be posting an easy tutorial to show you how to do that in another post}.  Once I had my burlap the size I wanted, I gathered my vintage doilies, linens, laces, buttons and ephemera. and played around with the position along the edge of the burlap tablecloth.

And now...for my secret ~ this is just between us {and whoever you would like to share it with!}.

I used very sharp {new} safety pins to gently attach the vintage linens, buttons, etc., on to my burlap square.  The whole process took a less than 1 hour and I really love the end result.

It was such a pretty day when I put this all together that I decided to have a mini garden party outside and I even got to light my chandelier ~ the wind cooperated {for the most part} and the candles burnt almost all the way down before I had to blow them out.

If you love burlap and are looking for some ingenious ways to create with it be sure to check out these other great blogs ~ we're all celebrating All Things Burlap with a wrap up and linky party starting Friday, August 23rd at 8 a.m.

Debbie from Debbie Doos posted this lovely wreath earlier today

and Heather from Setting for Four will be sharing this Union Jack Pillow later tonight.

I just love this--it is beautiful! I have not worked with burlap very much--did not even know you could wash it! I would love to make something like this myself--thanks for inspiring!

Thank you, Sandy. I washed the burlap just because of the aroma but then after looking it up, I found you could soften it up quite a bit and almost totally do away with that burlapy smell (yippee).

      Thanks for stopping by.
