10 Christmas Tree Trends You’ll See Everywhere in 2025 (and How to Copy Them)

This post is in partnership with King of Christmas, who gifted my tree. All opinions are my own.

The tree went up, the lights clicked on, and suddenly the whole room felt softer—like the first deep breath of December. If your tree has looked the same for a few years, this is your gentle nudge to try something new. I pulled together ten simple, beautiful ideas you can copy in an afternoon.

Beautifully decorated King of Christmas 8 foot Flocked tree

This year I decorated a King of Christmas 8' Prince Flock® and tried a new look myself—keeping the focus on cozy texture and small tweaks that make a big difference. Pick a favorite below —from cozy Nordic neutrals to a little champagne-metallic glam. Every look is simple, budget-friendly, and totally Pinterest-worthy.

As you look carefully at my tree this year from King of Christmas you'll notice that it's absolutely gorgeous. It looks lush, soft, and perfectly fluffy. I've had several artificial trees over the years but this one is my absolute favorite. I love how thick the flock is on the branches. The tree came together easily, in minutes, and I didn't need any help at all.

How I Layer a Tree (My 8-Step Order)

Close-up of flocked branches with warm white lights during setup.
  1. Fluff branches from the inside out
  2. Add your topper first (hide the pick with surrounding foliage)
  3. Ribbon base or garland (vertical cascades or stacked loops)
  4. Statement stems (florals, leaves, star picks)
  5. Large ornaments (outermost)
  6. Medium ornaments (mid-branch)
  7. Small ornaments (tucked near the trunk for depth)
  8. Accent garlands + final light check

Ornament counts (guideline):
6.5' → ~20 large / 35 medium / 45 small + 12–18 picks
7.5' → ~28 large / 45 medium / 60 small + 16–24 picks
9' → ~36 large / 60 medium / 80 small + 20–30 picks

How I Styled My Tree (Bronze & Botanical)

Vintage-style Christmas tree painting in a galvanized bucket with bronze ornaments.

This year I took my cue from a vintage-style painting I found at Hobby Lobby—a petite evergreen in a galvanized “Merry Christmas” bucket with warm bronze ornaments, pinecones, and a simple star. I loved that moody charcoal backdrop and the way bronzey tones glowed against the greenery, so I recreated the look on my 8' Prince Flock® from King of Christmas. Think Mixed Metals meets Botanical & Foraged: champagne + bronze baubles, natural textures, and a few cozy, collected details.

Bronze pinecones, champagne baubles, and burlap bows on a flocked branch.

To echo the artwork, I kept the palette intentionally tight—bronze, champagne, soft pewter, and natural browns from pinecones and burlap.

I switched on warm white lights, laid a subtle base (twine/burlap bows instead of big cascades), tucked in pinecone picks and twiggy stems for movement, muted gold cowbell garland, then finished with mixed-finish ornaments (matte + gloss) in three sizes. The result: soft, candlelit glow with just-enough shimmer—classic without feeling fussy—and the Prince Flock®’s texture makes the metals pop.

Copy the Look (quick formula):

  • Palette: bronze + champagne + pewter + natural wood/burlap
  • Texture: pinecones, twig picks, tiny bells, knit or burlap accents
  • Ornaments: cluster in 3s; large on outer tips, small tucked near the trunk
  • Topper: simple star to mirror the painting
  • Optional base: galvanized collar/bucket to nod to the artwork’s pail

The 10 Trend Ideas (Pick Your Favorite!)

Neutral tree with white ornaments, paper stars, and wood accents in a light room.

1) Nordic Neutrals & Texture

Vibe: cozy, calm, and high-end without trying.
How to copy it: matte white baubles, wood beads, linen or velvet ribbon, paper snowflakes. Keep it tonal: whites, oatmeal, soft gray.
Budget tip: make oversize paper stars from Kraft paper.

Classic red and gold Christmas tree with plaid ribbon and warm white lights.

2) Heritage Red—Reimagined

Vibe: classic but crisp (less clutter, more intention).
How to copy it: cherry-red satin ribbon, glossy bulbs in three sizes, candy canes, a few plaid touches. Cluster ornaments in 3s for depth.
Budget tip: spray-paint thrifted ornaments in one red tone to unify.

3) Mixed Metals (Champagne, Pewter, Gold)

Vibe: soft glow, no glitter fallout.
How to copy it: champagne ribbon base, antique-gold star picks, pewter bells. Keep metals warm so they play nicely with LED lights.
Pro move: combine matte + mirror finishes for dimension.

4) Celestial & Starry Night

Vibe: magical and moody.
How to copy it: star topper, moon ornaments, deep-navy ribbon, micro-fairy strands near the trunk for a twinkle-from-within effect.
DIY: cardstock stars with tiny “constellation” holes.

5) Cottagecore Plaids & Knits

Vibe: storybook cozy.
How to copy it: cable-knit ornaments, soft plaids, tiny wood houses, a wicker tree collar.
Bonus: tuck a few dried orange slices for warmth.

6) Gingerbread Kitchen-Core

Vibe: sweet nostalgia.
How to copy it: faux gingerbread cookies, copper cookie cutters on ribbon, candy garlands in caramel/cream/red.
Tip: choose warm white lighting to flatter bakery tones.

7) Moody Jewel Tones

Vibe: rich and luxe.
How to copy it: emerald, garnet, and sapphire ornaments; velvet ribbon tails; a few black or smoke-glass accents for contrast.
Lighting: dim slightly so colors read deep, not neon.

8) Botanical & Foraged

Vibe: nature-inspired (no cold glitter).
How to copy it: faux magnolia leaves, pinecones (some frosted), dried citrus, eucalyptus picks.
Tip: group leaves in little “sprays” rather than spacing evenly.

9) Oversized Florals

Vibe: editorial wow in five minutes.
How to copy it: tuck large poinsettias or magnolia blooms down the front in odd numbers (3, 5, 7). Fill negative space with coordinating baubles.
Balance: keep ribbon simple so florals shine.

10) Pastel Sugarplum

Vibe: airy, whimsical, and so 2025.
How to copy it: blush, lilac, mint, pearl, and iridescent accents. A flocked tree makes pastels pop—Prince Flock® is perfect here.
Tip: repeat each color at least 7–9 times for cohesion.

Pro Tips for a “Designer” Finish

  • Ribbon first. Vertical cascades elongate; stacked loops feel luxe.
  • Depth matters. Tuck small ornaments near the trunk so the lights glow through.
  • Work in triangles. Place repeats (like florals) in loose triangles to keep the eye moving.
  • Two finishes per color. A matte + gloss duo looks custom without double the cost.
  • Limit the palette. 3–4 colors total (including metals) keeps it elevated.
