Family Game Night diy christmas family game
Family Game Night - A Simple Board Game You Make Yourself - the kids will have fun helping you, too!
I always get a little over-the-moon happy this time of year. Spending time with family,
I was at Target (I go pretty much every day now!) and I saw a display filled with Coca-Cola holiday-themed products. The vintage Santa staring at me from the box of glass bottles along with the little messages on the bottles made me giddy.....I put two packages of these in my cart. Then, I remembered that I had seen aluminum Coca-Cola bottles and I wanted those as part of my family game night plan. I was a woman on a mission.
My plan was coming together.
Now you're probably wondering what my game is, aren't you? My husband was too and when I told him he looked at me like I went back in time to my teens but I assure you, I didn't (I would like that, though). I told him we were going to play Spin the Bottle! I got a 'what are you thinking woman', look, but I told him I wanted to make it a Holiday Family Edition - I think this has potential to be a game show, don't you? 😉 I had my Coca-Cola and now all I needed to do was make the game. It took me a little time to figure everything out but I'm Spreading a Little Joy and sharing the whole kit-and-kaboodle with you today - an entire package of free printables so you can have your own Family Game Night and share some #SipsOfJoy!
The sips of joy part comes in the form of the prizes....oh, yes, there are prizes!!!! I also have a cute little tutorial for you on how you can make you own adorable Reindeer Coca-Cola bottles to give as prizes, or to neighbors, friends or just to have on hand because sheesh these are cute!
Pop Bottle Reindeer Tutorial
Gather your supplies - chenille pipe cleaners (2) for each reindeer, googly eyes (2) for each reindeer, pom pom nose and hot glue gun.
Shape each pipe cleaner into an antler shape (click here for a downloadable that you can print out and use as a guide).
Twist all four ends of the pipe cleaner together and adhere to back of pop bottle with hot glue.
Add googly eyes and pom pom noses.
The winner of our game got an entire 6-pack of pop bottles, second place winner was Someone Nice, third place, Secret Santa and fourth place Elves. The loser received the lovely Someone Naughty bottle complete with two different sized googly eyes to drink with pride! 😉
Now, back to the game! Here's how you put it all together. Print out the downloadables, cut out the Spin the Bottle circle, the stockings, the note pads, task pages (print two of these) and the Word Find Puzzle.
Now, grab a piece of poster board in any color and cut it down a bit so that it is not so long. My final dimensions were 19.5 inches by 22 inches. Find the center and working from that point mark off 12 similarly shaped areas.
Use double-sided tape or glue to attach the Spin the Bottle logo to the center.
Add a stocking and a task to each area adhering with double-sided tape or glue.
Now, grab one of those awesome aluminum Coca-Cola bottles - we have three with reindeer names but for this game we used our Prancer & Vixen bottle. All you do is grab the bottle in the middle...
and start spinning and playing!
One more thing- above are the items I used as props - a reindeer nose that lights up, a fuzzy soft snowball, a wreath made of jingle bells and a Santa mustache and beard lollipop - but you can adjust the tasks to match whatever you have on hand for fun!
So there you have it - a cute Tutorial on How-To Make Pop Bottle Reindeer and a Family Game Night full package download. If you get a chance to download and play this game please come back and let me know how you liked it!
Seriously? This is SO cute! My boys would love putting the game together and even more fun playing! Plus, who wouldn't love a nice bottle of Coca-Cola to enjoy with it?? #client
Thanks so much, Samantha! 🙂
