Gilded Mason Jar Vase ~ Fun in the Sun Blog Hop and Giveaway

Gilded Mason Jar Vases ~ an Easy to Make and Elegant Way to Display Your Summer Flowers

Summer Blog Hop 2014 Gilded-Mason-Jar #MasonJar #gilded cupcakesandcrinoline

It's that time of year again ~ time to celebrate summer with the Fun in the Sun Blog Hop!  Where I live there's only a limited time that flowers are growing and blooming in my yard and I like to make the most of it.  I {really} like Mason Jars and Jars in general and often use them as vases.  Rather than just leaving them plain, though, I added some shine to these with gilding.

Blue-Mason-JarI started with a Ball Blue Mason Jar and a recycled spaghetti jar.  The Blue Jar is pretty on its own but I had some gilding supplies left from my Gilded Honeycomb Pitcher  and thought the gilding would add a nice touch to these jars.  I didn't want the gold to completely cover the jars but wanted a bit of a shabby chic outcome.  In order to do that I used a sponge brush to apply the adhesive randomly leaving some areas uncovered and then applied the gilding according to the directions on the package.  {If you have any questions, just let me know.}

Gilded-Mason-Jars-with Roses at cupcakesandcrinoline.com_I really like how this turned out.  Not only would it be pretty for flowers but some votive candles placed inside the jars would cast such a pretty glow.
