Rustic Evergreen Decor
It’s so easy to add Christmas and Holiday decor to every room in your home with fresh cut evergreens and if you have some in your own yard or the yard of someone you know, it’s absolutely free.
As part of this year’s bHome for the Holiday Tour I’m sharing a simple way to add holiday style to your home. Be sure to check out all of the other bHome bloggers and what they’re sharing at the bottom of this post plus enter a wonderful giveaway that will put a smile on your face!
When my parents were alive I would head over to their house and my father would have cuttings for me from some of the large pine trees they had on their property that I would scoop up and use to make wreaths to hang outside of each window on the front of my house. Once my father passed away I turned to taking cuttings from some of the larger evergreen shrubs at my home. Yesterday afternoon I went outside, box and pruning shears in hand and cut some fresh evergreens for this simple project.
I started by cutting some chicken wire I had on hand into a square and then forming that into a cone. I tightened everything down and crimped the sharp edges with some pliers. Be careful because the chicken wire can be sharp.
I added twine to use as a hanger to each side on the top of the chicken wire cone.
Next I trimmed up some evergreen cuttings to size to add to the chicken wire cone.
Next, I began to gently stuff the evergreens into the cone.
I purchased a package of cinnamon sticks at the Dollar Tree, pulled two of the sticks out and tucked them into the chicken wire.
At this point, you can add a ribbon, twine or anything you would like to dress up and finish off your Rustic Evergreen Decor – looking at the picture now I’m thinking I may swap out the red baker’s twine and bells for a pretty satin ribbon….what do you think?
*My project was inspired by this project at WonderWood
Here it is all finished but I did have a LOT of evergreen bundles left so I placed those in a vintage dough bowl.
For now, the dough bowl is sitting on a faux fur stool and throw with some ornaments spilled around them for good measure. It looks so much prettier in person – I have it in front of a large gilded Italian mirror (replica) that I have leaning against the wall but I had a hard time getting a photo of the mirror that didn’t look funky.
