If you're like me you love cake but, and this is a hard but for me, I don't bake cakes that often because there are always leftovers. Leftovers that taunt me and beg me (yes, cake talks to me) to eat it until it's all gone. I hate to let down a good dessert so rather than deal with the temptation they can present, I rarely bake them but I still WANT them. Is there another option? Yes, there is!
Duncan Hines has a delicious alternative, Perfect Size for 1. These are awesome! There are 18 varieties with flavors for morning, afternoon or evening indulgences. I made a few of these the other day and added something different to each one, and then I shared them with my sons.
You can get as wild as you want when it comes to customizing these delicious treats. I decided to start with three different liquids; milk, coffee (you knew I'd sneak coffee in here somehow!), and a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon <--- this one was just for me, no sharing!
I also decided to add some stir-ins to each single portion cake; milk chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and a light mint and milk chocolate candy.
First I added a packet of the Perfect Size for 1 Decadent Chocolate Lover's Cake Mix to the bottom of a mug. Next, I added in 3 tablespoons of the Cabernet Sauvignon (you can use water so no worries if you don't have wine available).
I mixed this well with a spoon.....notice we only have a spoon and a measuring cup to wash so far....no mixer, no cake pans....just two little doo-dads.
Lastly, I stirred in some milk chocolate chips. Next, I popped this into the microwave for 70 seconds and what emerged was a decadently delicious treat - a Perfect Size for 1! How perfect is that?
I also made a coffee and butterscotch chip treat......
And a milk and mint candy treat.Three delicious options all from one little mix all ready in about a minute! These were a huge hit and the only dishes were 3 mugs, 3 forks, a spoon and measuring cup....now that's a dessert success!
