Easy to Make Firecracker Cupcakes
Easy-to-make Firecracker Cupcakes. From start to finish ready in under 30 minutes! Perfect for the 4th of July and Memorial Day.
If you're going to be celebrating Memorial Day or the 4th of July and you're looking for an easy dessert then these Firecracker Cupcakes are perfect!
Because you start with store-bought cupcakes you're saving a lot of time and you're not heating up your house. The only other supplies you need are red candy melts, patriotic cupcake wrappers, red and blue cupcake toppers {I found the ones I used at Joann Fabrics}, patriotic sprinkles, toothpicks and large marshmallows.
I also prepped a baking sheet with a non-stick silicone mat to hold my candy-coated marshmallows while they harden in the refrigerator.
Melt the Red Candy Melts according to the directions on the package until the candy melts are fully melted and smooth.
Add toothpicks to the center of the marshmallows plunging the toothpick fairly far in but do not allow it to go all the way through. Now, dip each marshmallow individually into the melted chocolate using a spoon, if necessary, to completely coat the marshmallows.Once you have all of the marshmallows coated in the red candy melts, place in the refrigerator and allow to harden. This should only take about 10 minutes. Once the candy coating is hardened swap out the toothpicks for the cupcake topper "fireworks". If you have enough room in your refrigerator, you can do this before placing the marshmallows in the refrigerator to harden but my current refrigerator is small and that wasn't an option for me. Now, prep your cupcakes. I simply added some sprinkles to the frosting edges leaving the center free of sprinkles since this is where I'll be placing the "fireworks". I also placed each cupcake in a red, white, and blue cupcake wrapper while leaving on the original wrapper.
Next, add the marshmallow fireworks to the center of each cupcake and you're done!
That, literally, is all there is to these adorable cupcakes.
