Easy Spray Paint Redos for Your Home

Last week I took a look at my house...you know...one of those looks where you think, "Why in the world didn't I notice how ugly {fill in the blank} is?"  I like to update the little things and sometimes just one little update can change the whole feel of a room or view.

Two years ago I upgraded my bathroom by swapping out a cracked sink basin for a new granite and porcelain one {which is now cracked...yep, that's the way I roll....destroy the nice things}.  I also changed out the faucet to an oil rubbed bronze one and found some knobs and handles on clearance at Target to match the faucet. I have pictures of the entire redo...I just never posted them....2 years later and still no post {I get on my own nerves sometimes}.

Well, in any event, I was cleaning the bathroom floor and the hideous gold floor register and plastic trash can {that matches absolutely nothing} caught my eye.  I got to thinking....why not just spray paint them to match the facet and hardware in the bathroom.

At the same time I was noticing the ugly little things in my bathroom I was renovating my front porch {hopefully that post will be up next week} and realized that my front doorknob did not match the deadbolt lock.  The deadbolt is a Schlage {LOVE IT} Keyless entry.  I never really paid much attention to the fact that the doorknob and deadbolt didn't match until my storm door fell off.  {Did you ever have one of those spells...you touch things and they just BREAK}.  I want to get a new front door and storm door but until that happens I wanted the front door to look presentable so I decided to spray paint the doorknob.  I am so glad I did.

One little can of Rust-Oleum Universal Metallic Paint & Primer in One made my house look more polished and made me a heck of a lot happier.  Who knew that $8.00 could be such a good investment.

I still have some spray paint left so I'm just looking to spray paint something to match.  The paint went on super easy and adheres well to the plastic and the metal.  I only needed 2 coats of paint and everything looks great!

Hi Mary Beth! I love all of these spray paint inspirations, especially the floor registers, which I would not have thought to do! Truth be told, mine are looking pretty darn sad! 🙂 Thanks for sharing, pinning and have a wonderful Friday! Hugs!

It is amazing what a new coat of paint can do. Its like getting something new. I have been using spray paint more and more for home projects. So much easier and it looks great. Like your trash can!

Thanks, Linda ~ I've become a spray paint hoarder. I'm spray painting just about everything at this point.

  5. Wow! The door knob looks amazing! Painting them is a lot less expensive than replacing all the hardware. Great tip!

I need to get one of those cans! I guess only one can will be enough to paint all those ugly brass door knobs I have around the house! Great transformations, thanks!

Huge fan of the ORB from Rustoleum too!

I really loved the gold register, but it totally makes sense to paint it since it collided with the ORB in the rest of the room. I think it looks great ORB too. Maybe it's just because it's got that pretty detailing. Either way, I like it! haha.
