Peanut Butter Pretzel Chocolate Chip Cookies
I love peanut butter blossoms...you know those awesome peanut butter cookies that you roll in sugar and then top with a Hershey Kiss once you pull them out of the oven???? yep...those cookies are my favorite. Well, my nephew went away on a trip right before Christmas and when he came back he told me about some awesome cookies he had out in San Francisco....they were sweet AND salty....he said they were just like my peanut butter blossoms but had pretzels in the dough. I kept thinking about those cookies and finally decided to try my best to duplicate them. I started with the Hershey Peanut Butter Blossom Recipe and went from there. {I didn't have any Hershey Kisses on hand the day I decided to bake these so I just used some Hershey Milk Chocolate Chips instead.}
Ingredients
- ½ cup shortening
- ¾ cup Creamy Peanut Butter
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- ⅓ cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup salted pretzel pieces
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
Directions
- Heat oven to 375°F.
- Beat shortening and peanut butter in large bowl until well blended. Add ⅓ cup granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour,
baking soda and salt; gradually beat into peanut butter mixture. - Gently fold in the chocolate chips and the pretzel pieces. You don't want to break the pretzels in to crumbs.
- Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
- Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.
Let me know what you think!
