DIY Spa Flip Flops

Grab a pair of flip flops for $1.00, a washcloth, scissors and your glue gun and get ready to make these cute little spa day sandals in less than 5 minutes.

DIY Spa Day Sandals from

I came across this idea in Willow and Sage Magazine and had to make them for myself.  I’ve never had a spa day out but sometimes I do have one at home and I thought these would be the cutest (totally unnecessary) little flip-flops to wear after a nice foot soak.  They’d also make a great little gift if you and your friends are having a spa day together.  You could make this as a group craft or surprise your friends by bringing a pair of these for each of them.

hot glue

ruler/optional but helpful

Cut 2 of each

  • 1 inch wide strip down each long side of the washcloth {to glue along the strap of the flip-flops}
  • 2 inch wide strips the length of your washcloth {the body of your bows}
  • 1  inch wide by 2 inch long strips {for the center of your bows}

scissors  Cut 4

2 inch wide by 2 inch long rectangles cutting notch into bottom {these are the tails of your bow}

spa-day-flip-flops-first-stepGlue the long strips along each strap starting in the center and working outward ‘pinching’ as necessary to the correct length.
spa-day-flip-flops bow step oneFold each of your wider strips in half with the seam in the center back.  Pinch and glue.
spa-day-flip-flops bow step twoAdd your 1/2 inch wide strip to the center of your bow gluing in place in the back.
Add the tails to each side of the bow pinching to create a gather on each side to the center of the bow.

Easy to Make Spa Day Flip Flops
Glue your bows to the center of your sandals.

And there you have it ~ cute little spa sandals to help you feel special on your Spa Day.

I was going to share pictures of these on my feet to show you how cute and sassy they look and I actually did take pictures but when I looked at them I was so darn pale the pastiness (think school glue color legs) was too hideous to share and I didn’t have that ‘toes pointing inward’ pose that every other person who takes a picture of their feet/shoes/socks/legs seems to have conquered.  My feet were just in the cute flip-flops sticking straight out from my legs (which is a good thing, I think?!).

I LOVE THESE, I wish I had seen them before the end of school. They would have been perfect with a bottle of polish and a pedi certificate!
