Let's make something fun for Mom!
Does Your Mom Like Candy and Flowers?
If she does, then this gift is perfect for her and it's a very simple DIY.
It's a win-win. You get to give Mom something she likes, PLUS you made with your own hands, so she'll really love it.
Supplies:
Plant - try to remember flowers your mom has mentioned liking in the past OR if she's a houseplant kind of gal, then get her something green and lush
Balloon on Stick - I found the one I used at Walmart for only 97 cents in the Greeting Card Department
Candy Bars - I used King Size Bars for this project BUT, you can buy regular size bars and just cut down the printable wrappers to size
Glue Gun and Glue Sticks - preferably low temp
Skewers - You can find these at the Dollar Store, the supermarket, Walmart, etc.
Scotch Tape
Ribbon
*Optional - cellophane to wrap the plant pot with
How-To Make a Candy Bar Bouquet
First, print out the candy bar wrappers - click on the links to be taken to Dropbox and then download the wrappers.
Print them out. Now, this is important - be sure to choose landscape view before printing so that the wrappers are big enough
Cut out the wrappers to size. The buffalo check stripes will help to give you a basic outline to follow if you are using smaller candy bars than I did.
Glue one skewer on the back of each candy bar about halfway up the bar. I recommend using a low-temp glue gun so that the hot glue doesn't melt the candy bar.
Wrap the candy bars with the Mother's Day wrappers and use the scotch tape to hold the wrapper in place.
Add the cellophane to the pot and tie a ribbon around it.
Now, jab those skewers into the plant dirt.
Add the balloon to the center and voila....bam, boom...you're done!
And, if you feel like teasing Mom just a little bit, add some Eat Rotten gummy worms to the top of the dirt.
A gift for Mom that she will LOVE!
You are so clever! I love this idea, Mary Beth! What makes it such a great gift is that little personal touch with the addition of the hand wrapped candies AND every mom loves chocolate and flowers!! Those ranunculi are gorgeous!!
Thank you sweet, Diane! Ranunculi are my favorite flowers so I was very happy to find these for less than $5.00!
My mom would actually love this, MaryBeth... and the wrappers are adorable! So blessed to have you with us at Homestyle Gathering my friend!
Thank you, Julie! Happy Mother's Day to you and your Mom.
