Velvet Christmas Trees IN Just Minutes!
Velvet Christmas Trees are so easy to make and these took less than 5 minutes each from start to finish.
It all started with........
The Gift That's Too Dreadful to Use
Did you ever get a gift that was just to dreadful....too awful....too YUCK to use? We did.
Last year we went to breakfast with friends before Christmas and we had a white elephant exchange...you know...the gift exchange where you bring something from your house you don't need {or want} and gift it to someone else randomly.
Well, my youngest son got a crushed velvet Santa hat with matching boxers....yep...that was a fun one to explain to him! I hated it and had it in a bag to give to the local thrift store when I had a total aha moment and decided to keep it for the fabric.
I had no idea what I was doing to do with it but it was RED CRUSHED VELVET ~ I mean, I couldn't get rid of it!

The Fancy Schmancy 5-Minute Velvet Trees
So now, I have Red Crushed Velvet and I have styrofoam cones..and then it hit me....wrap the cones in the the Red Velvet...so I gave it a try and they looked absolutely gorgeous!
I made all three cone trees in under 15 minutes and for a little added bling I wrapped one of the trees with a strand of battery-operated lights....bam...glam!
Supplies:
Velvet Fabric approximately ½ yard
Design it:® LED Light Strand
Hot Glue gun and sticks
Step One ~ If using shorts or fabric scraps square up your pieces so your cutting will be even.
Step 2 ~ Cut fabric into 4 inch strips {each of my strips was 24 inches long}.
Step 3 ~ Hot glue the center end of one strip to the top of your cone.
Step 4 ~ Wrap fabric in a diagonal fashion down your cone gluing at the end and beginning of each strip and ending by wrapping the strip straight across the bottom. I tucked my ends under my cone and glued to the bottom.
I added the LED Lights to one of my trees to give them a little extra glow!

So pretty! I love the look of the elegant crushed velveteen, especially with the lights. Very clever re-use of a white elephant! Thank you!
Thanks so much, Sharon.
Love the tress, Mary Beth! Great use of the..uh,,,fabric! 😉
Merry Christmas, dear friend!
