If you know me you know that I have a bit of an addiction.  Okay....a bunch of addictions.

A few of my addictions listed in no particular order........

Baskets ~ almost any size, any type, any style...I love them and always have.

Books and magazines ~ I could start my own Book Mobile and be a Heroine to an entire generation of readers with all of the books and magazines I have in my home.

Leather ~ as in coats, purses, shoes, belts and earrings {yes, I have made and worn leather earrings}.

Cadbury Eggs {this has nothing to do with this post at all but Easter is coming and I feel that those who love me should know that they will forever be in my good graces if they supply me with a basket filled with Cadbury Eggs}.

How to Add Leather Handles to a broken basketI bought a seagrass basket to use for extra towels in my bathroom....it stayed there for a few years and then I moved it into the living room to hold books and magazines...too many books and magazines and the handle {first one, then the other} broke off.  The weight of the books and magazines were just too much for those delicate little handles to deal with.  I saved the basket just knowing that someday I would figure out how to save it.

Use Old Leather Belts as Basket HandlesI have 3 boys......they grow and they are ROUGH on their clothes.  They wear belts.  The belts wear out.  They grow out of the belts.  I have belts that can't be reused but I keep them.

I have Gorilla Glue.

In my mind the basket, belts and Gorilla Glue were the perfect match for this project.

First, I removed what was left of the original handles.  They were only attached with string so this was easy to do.

I used 4 leather belts for this project adjusting them and matching up according to size.

I love baskets too (and cadbury creme eggs!) I also have all boys and know for sure that I have at least 5 or 6 of their worn out belts just lying around. This is a wonderful way to re purpose things! Thanks for the idea!
