How-To Create a Pampering Gift Basket for a Man aka Useful Man Stuff

I am surrounded by men.  I have a husband and 3 sons....no girls (except me) here so the thought of pampering isn't something they take kindly to, but, with a little creativity and a trip to my local Dollar General I was able to create a basket (one basket for them all to share) of useful (for the sake of them being guys I'll say useful but for us girls I mean pampering items).

I went to the store and walked up and down every aisle (not mandatory but I like to shop!).  I found Chips Ahoy Cookies ~ I bought two bags: One bag of Chewy Chips Ahoy Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Cookies and one bag of regular Chip's Ahoy Reese's Peanut Butter cookies.  When I bought these two I got the bag of Reese's Peanut Butter candies for FREE! I checked the Dollar General website for coupons so that's how I knew!

Next up, the health and beauty aisle.  My goal was to find items that could be used by almost all of them or appeal to at least two of them.

I bought Vitamin E cream, Vitamin E oil and petroleum jelly to keep their skin hydrated during the cold months without smelling girly; nose strips (super deal at only $2.50 for 6 strips), 4 tubes of lip balm ~ cherry and regular only $1.00 for each package of 2; Analgesic Cream to help with aches and pains after workouts ~ $2.00; deep clarifying cream cleanser, cotton rounds and ClearZit (don't ask for who!!!!) all for $6.25 and shaving supplies ~ Skin Bracer and Nivea Shaving Foam.

Everything totaled $35.00 but because I went on a Saturday to make my purchase I saved an additional $5.00 off the total price with a coupon.  Included in that total was the cost of a black plastic basket that fits easily under our bathroom sink keeping everything (except the food items) all readily available for my guys to use everyday or whenever they need it.

I checked online first before making my trip to the store and even if you don't have a local Dollar General you can still Shop online and save with Dollar General!

If someone were to make a pampering gift basket for YOU what would you want in it?

That's a big haul for your $35 Mary Beth!
Dollar Generals are fairly new to me and living for so long in a metropolitan area I never had the need to shop there. However, the past 3 or 4 years, I've lived in a more 'rural' location and I've found them to be really helpful. They've saved me from having to drive 20 minutes or more one or two things. I was surprised to find that they even had pimento for my traditional Christmas side. And at a great price too. 🙂

A pampering basket for me? Hmmm.... You'll laugh I'm pretty spartan... so I don't usually think about pampering myself. How about a basket of chocolates, pretty paper napkins, an unusual writing pad or journal, great pens in assorted colors, organic or natural lip balms or lotions, and a fun new dish towel (I have a thing for cool dish towels), a great smelling hand washing soap for the kitchen, a fun kitchen gadget or cool spatulas. I know that doesn't sound too pampering does it? LOL
