Organize Your Work Space::
Organizing your desk can be hard. If you’re like me you have accumulated small dainty stacks (huge annoying piles) of very important paperwork on your desk and you know right where everything is (not really but I pretend). I just recently downsized my desk so that I could actually move in the area where my desk is. It’s a small space and I had a huge file cabinet/work area and towers on the desk. Everything is gone now but the desk itself (which has NO drawers) so it was time to organize.
I first headed to the Dollar Spot at Target. Honestly….is that place not amazing? I always find the cutest things there that are functional and cheap.
I bought three $1.00 clipboards to use to hold an inspirational picture (I like looking at it)
and the other two will be used for holding bills. Bills that need to be paid and bills or paperwork that I have any questions about.
Next were these adorable turquoise-y blue plastic folders with white polka dots ~ I go gaga over polka dots.
The big one will be used to hold and sort bills per month (it has 12 compartments) and the small one will hold my shopping receipts. I placed two of the clipboards and the folders in a wooden dish rack from Ikea. These little holders are great for sorting so many things ~ not only plates but folders, papers, tablets for the kids for school, small cookie sheets, etc.
I have small mason-type jars from the Target Dollar Spot that I keep paperclips and pencil erasers in.
I use a small vintage silver plated vase (I think it’s a vase????) to hold my glasses so I can find them when I need them.
I used a blue mason jar with a black lid ~ the lid is from the Dollar Spot at Target ~ to hold twine pulling it up through the lid and also storing scissors in the top for easy access (I used the flower holder/frog lid for this).
The locker storage bin is used to hold books and note. I have 3 more of these and I can’t wait to figure out what to put in them.
I like the mini clipboard with the notebook and matching pen ~not necessary for organizing but it sure looks pretty while I’m writing out my grocery list!
The tin with the 5 on it…..I think that’s from Target but I’ve had it for so long I’m not sure! I use that to hold colored pens and markers.
I think this idea is brilliant and wish I had thought of it ~ I found these paperclips and pushpins at the Target Dollar Spot stored in test tubes ~ so smart! I keep them in a white container from Ikea (see the pic above or below).
So there you have it ~ my ideas and how I keep my desk organized using items from two of my favorite stores ~ Target and Ikea!
