Inexpensive Lamp Makeover
A lamp makeover in the form of simply changing your shade can have a huge impact on a small space.
When I was a young bride I had 'a' lamp. Yes...just one and it was not so pretty. I remember going shopping to a local mall with my mother and one of the department stores was having a sale on lamps. My mother was a smart shopper who never skimped, in other words the woman would not buy anything cheap, but that was smart because she didn't have to replace things every time she blinked. On this occasion she gently suggested that I buy this Stiffel lamp. I thought, okay...whatever, and then I saw the price.....I think I may have almost swallowed my tongue but she assured me that this was a lamp I would have for a very long time. She was right....as always. Fast forward many years later and the lamp is still in my living room but it was looking a tad bit frumpy to me. The base was fine and the shade in perfect shape but the color seemed bland.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I was at Walmart and saw this shade and for only $7.00 I thought it might just be what my lamp needed to fight that frump.
I swapped out the shades and once I was sure I liked it I ripped gently removed the plastic wrap and put my new lampshade on. It inspired me so much that I shopped my house for some decor to set off my new shade.
I added some shutters, a few antique postcards, a chalk bird and the gilded honeycomb pitcher I made a few months ago.
What do you think? I love the new look and it totally brightened up the whole room.
