Tie-Dye Tote Bag

While I was tie-dying the boys’ Halloween {glow-in-the-dark} Tie-Dye shirts I also tie-dyed a grocery tote.  I bought several of these bags last year for only $1.00 each just to decorate and play around with and this was the perfect base for the tie-dye.  Instead of tie-dying the bag per the instructions in the kit I tried something a bit different.

1.  I accordion pleated the fabric first then applied a rubber band to an area a few inches from both the bottom and the top of the bag {equal distances}.

2.  I squirted some orange dye into a small plastic container {the lid from laundry detergent} and did the same with the black dye.

3.  I placed the top end of the tote {including the handles} into the orange dye and the bottom half into the black dye.

4.  I followed all of the other instructions per the instruction sheet in the Tulip Tie-Dye Kit.

5.  When dry I applied a Tulip Glam-It-Up Iron On pumpkin to the center portion of the bag.

Now, I have a cute little tote to use for the next few weeks.  I’m also planning on using it when I take my youngest out trick or treating with his cousins to hold a flash light, Kleenexes, and any extra candy which I will keep safely tucked away for him to enjoy later {i.e. me to eat while I’m out walking}.
