Wholesome Snacking For Families On The Go

Playing basketball in the yard

Here's another 'growing up' story from me.  When I was little my Mother did not allow many sweets in the house and, well, I wasn't really allowed to have sweets very often....hence the reason now I am somewhat cupcake obsessed but when it comes to my kids I do limit the amount of snacks they can have that aren't wholesome.

Wholesome Snacking Fresh Fruit and yogurt

Thankfully, they really love fresh fruit and veggies (honestly, they eat fruits and veggies that I don't....I pretend I eat it but I have been known to sneak asparagus into my napkin when no one is looking).

My kids, unlike me, are active and always outside....always! My youngest son's latest kick has been basketball.  He announced last week that he wanted to be a professional basketball player when he grows up.  We had an old basketball hoop that we used to have in the driveway but now there's no room for it up there so my older sons (sheesh, I love them!) moved the basketball hoop into the back yard for their little brother to play and practice and occasionally they play with him.

Tower of PowerToday, they were playing for several hours straight.  They would come in for water but not to eat.  I knew they could use a snack so I grabbed some Yoplait® yogurt {25% less sugar!} that I had luckily stocked up on at Walmart earlier in the week.....

I got some fresh fruit.....

and topped the yogurt with the fruit and headed outside to take them a snack.

I put the Yoplait® yogurt down and my husband yelled out to my sons to let them know there was a snack for them.  Well, the look on my youngest son's face says it all.

He ran over to get his and even dropped his basketball along the way. It's important when you have siblings to get the first pick of anything especially snacks 😉

He grabbed the blueberry yogurt with fresh blueberries.....

My middle son took the strawberry Yoplait® yogurt and my husband grabbed the peach before I could get to it....MEN!

It was so nice to see my two youngest sons enjoying their snack together talking about the proper way to throw a basketball....

And how important practice is....

and the next thing you know their Yoplait® yogurt was all gone.

They really did enjoy their snack and I couldn't be happier that they enjoy eating something so good! So what's your favorite wholesome snack for you and your kids?
