Why I Developed This Recipe
My oldest son always wants slushies....always......it can be the middle of the winter and if we pass a Sheetz....he wants a slushie....
The other day....he wanted a slushie....I figured they couldn't be too hard to make so I gave it a whirl and lo and behold....slushie success and I did it without a special slushie machine using only my blender.
If you would prefer using a Slushie Maker, while I've never tried one myself, this particular slushie maker got good reviews on Amazon and seems pretty simple to use.
I used a package of powdered drink mix from Aldi but you can also use Kool Aid or any other packaged drink mix you would like. Kool Aid has a wider variety of flavor options available.

Fun and Flavorful Variations:
- Watermelon Slushie: Use Watermelon Kool Aid or other watermelon-flavored drink mix powder. Garnish with a fresh watermelon wedge if desired and a splash of watermelon water if the slushie is quite thick.
- Lemonade Slushie: Use Lemonade flavored powdered drink mix and follow the directions below. Garnish with fresh fruit!
- Strawberry Slushie: Use strawberry Kool Aid and follow the directions below.
- Soda Slushie: Substitute chilled Club Soda for the water in the recipe below.
- Layered Slushie: Choose 2, 3, or more different flavors and colors of Kool Aid. One for each layer. Following the directions below, make one layer at a time putting in glasses or cups. Place glasses in freezer between making each layer. Make second layer and place on top of the first and continue until you have the end result you desire!
- "Invisible" Slushie: Kool Aid has an "invisible" Kool-Aid (flavors vary). It would be fun to use this as the middle layer in a patriotic 4th of July slushie with a red layer below and a white layer above similar to this Red, White, and Blue Drink.

💭 Top Tips
A good blender or Slushie maker is super helpful with this recipe. When I originally shared this post I used my Oster blender but when it no longer worked, I got a Ninja and haven't looked back. It works like a beast and we use it to make milkshakes (like this awesome freak shake) and protein drinks often.
