Morning Routine - Simple and Focused

A morning routine is important to start your day.  Just like everything else in my life I like SIMPLE!

When I wake up in the morning I'm not quite ready to face the day.  I need a little nudging and over the years I've found that I have to be slow and steady!  The morning routine that leaves me feeling ready to take on the world takes only a few simple steps to create calm and to help me focus on what I need to do for the day.

5 Steps to a Simple Morning Routine 

A fresh cup of coffee is one of my 5 morning routine musts!

Coffee - I always start my day off with a cup of fresh coffee.  There's something about it that grounds me....the aroma and the smooth taste ease me into my day.

A pretty cup is a necessity for me.  Too often I go for practical but having my coffee in a pretty cup makes me feel special.  It's a very small thing but it makes a difference...if you don't already do that give it a try!  I switch mine out to suit my mood - sometimes bold...sometimes sassy....sometimes the good china. 

Next, I add a cloth napkin - usually one of my vintage ones.  They stand up to the test of time and they help to continue the mood of calm. I also add a fancy spoon to the mix.  Sometimes it's an antique silver spoon, sometimes it's a spoon from the good set of silverware and sometimes it's a spoon from my Pioneer Woman set.  

Add just a touch of pure creamer to your coffee for the perfect flavor.

To keep things simple (remember, we want to avoid anything complicated - it's morning and we want to start the day off as stress free as possible!) I add International Delight Simply Pure Coffee Creamer to my coffee.  Simply Pure contains only 5 ingredients including real milk, cream and cane sugar and a little goes a long way.  The flavor is delicious and it's the perfect creamer to keep the simple and uncomplicated flow going.

Next, I pull out my planner and check what's on the agenda for the day.  Anything I need to add to my to-do list I do now.  If I wait until later in the day I tend to feel a sense of panic about missing something but this morning quiet time seems to be my best time to focus on the big things and write them down.  It adds order to my day without being overwhelming.  A pretty planner helps, too.

This isn't on my list but when they are available I cut some fresh flowers from the garden and add them to a small vase - flowers make every day seem brighter!

  1. My mornings typically start with a sunrise run, which is immediately followed by a cup of coffee! I need to add freshly cut flowers to my kitchen though. Flowers always make me feel relaxed. #client

I choose tea rather than coffee, but I do agree that the choice of cup is important. 😉 I also find that [in addition to checking the day's agenda] spending a few minutes writing in my journal is very relaxing and helps me to focus.

  5. I love these tips. It looks fresh and rejuvenating. I have a hard time waking up. BUT I could wake up faster if this was my daily routine.
