DIY Autumn Wreath
I am so glad that you are here today for the bHome Fall Tour. Over 30+ of the bHome bloggers are celebrating and sharing inspiration, ideas and more and there is also an AMAZING giveaway! {Check out the bottom of the post for all the details - you'll be tickled at the PRIZES (plural!!!).}
Instead of my usual (recipes!) I decided to step out of my comfort zone and share a DIY Autumn Wreath. I don't normally make wreaths but I am embracing change (even if it's small) and pushing myself to do things I don't normally do and this happens to be one of them!
I had so much fun shopping to make this wreath- I went to the store (two actually) and bought handfuls of faux autumn flowers. I also bought a grapevine wreath and then started creating - the point of this wreath is that it didn't have to be perfect - I threw perfect out the door! 😉 It just had to be fun to make, something I liked looking at and something new to me.
I had some small terracotta pots that I used to start seeds a few years ago and I also used these for the wreath.
They had such a nice patina and worn look to them already. I used florist wire to attach them in a random pattern to the wreath.
I then started cutting the flowers apart into smaller more manageable sizes and adding them to my wreath while it was flat.....
moving things around until I achieved a look I liked.
Then, I did something that worked for me and you may find makes it easier for you to make a wreath.
I put the wreath on the wall with the pots only attached and then started adding the flowers hot gluing them on, stepping back and then adding more.
When all was said and done I was pretty happy with the results. I was going to leave it on the white wall but I thought it may look pretty on my chalkboard wall as well.....
so I hung it there and added some chalkboard art (I call it art but it was just me scribbling on the wall!).
And here it is with a candle, an old shutter and some more flowers (all cut off from the bottom of the picture because that's the way I roll when the boys are wrestling in the living room and I'm trying to take pictures 😉 I may end up moving it again - I'm fickle like that.
If you decide to throw perfection to the curb and DIY some fall crafts of your own I would LOVE if you shared them with me - we can all encourage each other to step out of our comfort zones and embrace life with joy!

I love how the autumn colors really pop against the chalkboard wall Mary Beth. Most importantly, you had fun creating this project... and isn't that what decorating should be all about!
Hugs - Kerryanne
Thank you, Kerryanne! I'm hoping my 'skills' (loosely said!) will improve and I can do more of this type of project. It's the strangest thing but years ago I created all the time and when I look back I liked what I created but for a few years now I seem to have been stuck in a rut and I need to re-learn the creativity process! Thanks for stopping by - hugs, mb
