Thrifty Backyard Decor
Does your outdoor furniture need a refresh? Do you like to decorate your yard on a budget? I do too and that's why I'm so thrilled to share my thrifty backyard decor. Almost everything in these pictures is from the thrift store or was bought on sale.
Welcome to this month's Thrifty Style Team post. It's one of my favorite posts of the month because I get to share how you don't have to have a ton of money to decorate with style.
New Cushions - Thrifty Backyard Decor Step One
A few weeks ago my husband and I went to a local At Home store. If you've never been to one I encourage you to go but plan on spending several hours there. The one near us is HUGE and we shopped for over three hours and bought so much stuff for less than $130.00...I'll share in another post all of the other goodies I bought but the cushion above along with the two pillows cost $24.00 TOTAL! It was 60% off and when I realized how cheap it would be, I grabbed all three pieces!
The cushion is a really nice thickness, not flimsy at all and was only $16.00 - it was 60% off and the pillows were only $4.00 each so I sort of had to get them, right?
I didn't really need a new cushion for my white wicker couch but the other one was the original cushion that my Dad bought over 20 years ago, so I didn't feel too bad buying this new one. (You can see the original in this post along with a tour of my sunroom here.)
I had the other pillows from last year and I was so happy that the blues matched perfectly...even though they aren't part of a "set" I like the way it all came together.
Inexpensive and Unique Flower Containers - Thrifty Backyard Decor Step Two
I grabbed a faux trophy that I had given my husband for Father's Day a few years ago (I got it on clearance at Target I think!?!) and stuffed it with some hosta blooms and put it next to the wicker sofa.
On the other side of the wicker sofa, I placed a small white wicker table (it was my oldest son's when he was little) and placed a Moet and Chandon Silver bowl on top of it. I purchased the bowl last year at a thrift store for only $5.00! (you can see that thrift store haul here) I tucked a silver lantern from Ikea next to the table and couch....perfect for late nights out in the yard.
A local greenhouse had hanging baskets on sale and I held out until the last minute to buy them....I love a good deal, and snagged this huge begonia plant for less than $10.00. I removed the hanging portion and placed the pot in the bowl....bam....a unique planter with no hassle or need to transplant.
Behind the sofa I placed my Dad's old ladder. I have moved this ladder all over the place in the last few years and I think it will be heading into the dining room eventually...still not sure.
I placed a straw hat that I bought years ago at the Dollar Tree on the ladder along with another Ikea lantern and a burlap banner from the Dollar Spot at Target. I like this picture because of the way the light was reflecting off the windows and the mirror in the sunroom leaving such a pretty trail in the grass...I didn't notice that when I was taking the pictures...but I like it, so I'm sharing it!
And that's it for my thrifty backyard decor. Check out all of the other thrifty inspiration from the team below and come back next month (sooner, I hope!) to see what we'll be sharing for the last full month of summer....it's going by too quickly...as always!
