This air fryer strawberry shortcake is so easy to make in a traditional air fryer or a Ninja Foodi and it tastes absolutely delicious!

The real time saver for this recipe is the use of refrigerated biscuits instead of making them from scratch or a mix and of course, making them in an air fryer.

While the end result isn't a traditional strawberry shortcake it is yummy, quick, and easy and a perfect treat for busy days. If you love shortcuts and money saving recipes you might just love this one for a Copycat McDonald's Mocha Frappe!

I am a dessertie. That's like a foodie who loves desserts. I also always look for shortcuts and ways to make things faster and better and that's why I decided to use an Air Fryer for this recipe. It's a strawberry shortcake shortcut.

Wash Strawberries

The first thing you'll want to do is prep the strawberries.

For this recipe I'll be using 1 quart of fresh strawberries. One quart of fresh strawberries will yield roughly 4 cups of sliced berries.

Let's start by cleaning the strawberries to remove any grime.

Fill a large bowl with four parts water to one part white vinegar (example: 4 cups water to 1 cup white vinegar). Place the berries in the bowl so that they are completely submerged in the vinegar/water mixture and soak for 20 minutes.

Fresh Strawberries in a colander

Use a colander (I love this enamelware colander!) to rinse the strawberries thoroughly under cool water and allow to drain.

Simple Strawberry Syrup

Now that the berries are washed we're going to make a simple strawberry syrup with them.

Remove the berry stem and slice the berries into even pieces.

Place berries in a bowl and top with ¼ cup of sugar using more or less to taste. Toss gently to evenly coat.

Place the berries in the refrigerator and allow to chill while making the "shortcakes".

Canned Refrigerator Biscuits in the Air Fryer

If you don't have an air fryer you can bake the refrigerator biscuits in the oven following the directions on the label. If you do have an air fryer the directions are below.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of Grands refrigerator biscuits or similar
  • Oil Spray

Instructions:

  1. Spray the air fryer basket with oil so that the biscuits won't stick.
  2. Lay the biscuits in a single layer on the air fryer basket. Leave room between biscuits.
  3. Air fry at 330 degrees for 6 minutes.
  4. Gently loosen biscuits and flip if desired.
  5. Continue to air fry another 2 to 3 minutes until the biscuits are evenly browned and cooked through.
  6. If baking smaller biscuits cook for 5 minutes and then another 2 minutes.
