🍴Substitutions

While the classic strawberry crunch recipe calls for butter, golden Oreo cookies, and Jell-O, there are several other ingredients you can use to mix things up:

  • Fat: I used salted butter but you can certainly use unsalted butter if you prefer.
  • Crunchy base: You can experiment with various crushed cookies for the crunchy base, such as graham crackers, Nilla wafers, or even nuts like pecans or almonds for a gluten-free option.
  • Flavorings: Instead of strawberry Jell-O consider using any of your favorite Jell-o flavors.

🍦 Dessert Pairings

Strawberry crunch is incredibly versatile and pairs well with a variety of desserts. Impress your friends and family with these delectable combos:

  • Ice cream sandwich: Level up your classic ice cream sandwich by rolling the edges in strawberry crunch, adding a pop of color and extra crunchiness.

❔ FAQ

What is crunch topping?

Crunch topping is a versatile mix of crumbled cookies, dried fruit, and sometimes butter or melted chocolate. It adds a delightful crunchy texture to desserts such as ice cream, cakes, or even trail mix. Feel free to experiment with different cookie and fruit combinations to find your favorite flavor.

No-bake topping options?

There are plenty of no-bake topping options for you to try. You can simply crush cookies and mix them with dried fruit or nuts for a quick and easy topping. Another option is to use store-bought granola or graham cracker crumbs mixed with melted butter or nut butter for a deliciously crunchy addition to your dessert.

Recipes without Oreos?

While many strawberry crunch recipes use Oreos, you can easily substitute other cookies like vanilla wafers, shortbread, or even graham crackers. Just make sure the cookie you choose has a high butter content, so it maintains a crunchy texture when mixed with other ingredients.

Shortcake crunch ideas?

To create a strawberry shortcake-inspired crunch, combine crushed shortbread cookies or vanilla wafers with freeze-dried strawberries for a deliciously fruity and crunchy topping. You can also try incorporating other berries, such as raspberries or blueberries, into the mix for added variety.

Crumble toppings with Jell-O?

Adding Jell-O powder to your crumble topping can give it an extra burst of flavor and color. Mix your choice of Jell-O powder with crushed cookies and dried fruit for a fun, vibrant twist on the traditional crunch topping. Feel free to experiment with different Jello flavors to find your favorite combination.

Crunch cheesecake tips?

When adding crunch topping to a cheesecake, you'll want to ensure it doesn't become soggy. Make sure your dessert is completely cooled before adding the crunch topping. You can also consider incorporating the crunch directly into the crust for a delicious texture. To do this, simply mix the crushed cookies with melted butter and press firmly into the bottom of your cheesecake pan before baking. Once the cheesecake has cooled, you can add more crunch topping on top of the cheesecake layer for a double dose of scrumptious crunchiness.
